Medical Colleges in Andaman and Nicobar Islands 2026 – MBBS, AIQ Counselling & Admission Guide

Andaman and Nicobar Islands, though a small Union Territory, plays a unique role for NEET UG aspirants exploring MBBS admission beyond mainland India. You can explore the complete, filterable list of medical colleges in Andaman and Nicobar Islands — by type and course — directly above.

How MBBS Admission Works Here — 100% All India Quota

Unlike most Indian states, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has no separate state quota counselling. Since it is a Union Territory without its own medical counselling authority, all MBBS seats are filled entirely through the All India Quota (AIQ), managed by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services. This means candidates from any state in India — not just local domiciles — are eligible to compete for seats here based purely on their NEET UG rank.

    Admission Process

Candidates must qualify NEET UG and register for AIQ counselling on the official MCC portal. Seat allotment happens across Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up, and Stray Vacancy rounds, based on NEET rank and category-wise reservation (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD). Since there's no domicile requirement, competition for seats can be intense despite the limited number of colleges in the region.

Why Consider Andaman and Nicobar Islands for MBBS

Government medical colleges here typically offer more affordable tuition compared to private institutions in mainland states, making it a practical option for budget-conscious NEET aspirants open to relocating for their medical education. The region also offers a distinct clinical and community-health learning environment shaped by its island geography.

    Courses Offered

Medical education in Andaman and Nicobar Islands centers primarily around the MBBS program at the undergraduate level, in line with NMC-approved intake norms.
