    How MBBS Admission Works

    MBBS admission is based on NEET UG rank, with counselling conducted by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Manipur via manipurmc.mn.gov.in:

    • 85% Manipur State Quota — counselled by DHS, requiring Manipur domicile eligibility
    • 15% All India Quota (AIQ) — filled through MCC, applicable mainly at RIMS Imphal, open to candidates from any state
    • Shija Academy of Health Sciences, the only private college, additionally offers separate Management Quota and NRI Quota MBBS seats

    An Important Note for Non-Manipuri Candidates — Inner Line Permit (ILP)

    A distinctive requirement unique to Manipur: candidates from outside the state who secure an AIQ seat at RIMS Imphal must also obtain an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to legally reside and study in Manipur. While the 15% AIQ seats are open on an all-India merit basis, the ILP adds a practical administrative step that non-domicile candidates should research and plan for well before joining.
