How Admission Works in Chhattisgarh

MBBS admission across Chhattisgarh's state government and private medical colleges is based on NEET UG rank, with seats divided as follows:

85% Chhattisgarh State Quota seats are counselled by the Directorate of Medical Education (DMET), Chhattisgarh, requiring a valid Chhattisgarh domicile certificate
15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats are filled through MCC, open to candidates from any state

AIIMS Raipur is a separate case — being a central government institute, 100% of its MBBS seats are filled directly through MCC counselling, and it does not follow Chhattisgarh's state reservation rules.

State government medical colleges in Chhattisgarh are affiliated with the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Memorial Health Sciences and Ayush University, Raipur.

Postgraduate (MD/MS) Admission

NEET PG-qualified candidates can pursue MD/MS through Chhattisgarh's state counselling process, managed by the Commissionerate of Medical Education (CGDME). A notable state-specific rule: after the standard AIQ deduction, a share of the remaining state-quota PG seats in both government and private colleges is specifically reserved for candidates who completed their MBBS from a recognized Chhattisgarh medical college, or who are in-service Chhattisgarh government candidates.

Seat-Leaving Penalty Rules

Chhattisgarh enforces strict seat-leaving rules to maintain counselling integrity. Candidates who discontinue a confirmed MBBS seat after the official deadline face financial penalties, including partial or full forfeiture of deposited fees, and may be debarred from state quota counselling in the following academic year.
