About Goa Medical College
GMC Goa is a government institution affiliated with Goa University (since 1986; previously affiliated with Bombay University), recognized by the NMC. It offers around 180β200 MBBS seats annually, along with MD/MS postgraduate courses, DM/MCh super-speciality programs, and allied health courses such as BPT and B.Sc. Medical Imaging Technology.
How Admission Works
MBBS admission at GMC Goa is based entirely on NEET UG rank. Seats are split as:
- 85% Goa State Quota β counselled by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Goa, requiring Goa domicile eligibility
- 15% All India Quota (AIQ) β filled through MCC, open to candidates from any state
Since GMC Goa is the only MBBS-granting institution in the state, all applicants compete within this single college's seat pool β there is no alternate government or private MBBS option within Goa.
Postgraduate & Super Speciality
NEET PG-qualified candidates can pursue MD/MS at GMC Goa through combined AIQ and state quota counselling. Super-speciality seats (DM/MCh) in disciplines such as Cardiology, Neurology, Urology, and Plastic Surgery are filled through NEET SS, counselled centrally by MCC.
Courses Available
- UG: MBBS (GMC Goa) β no BDS, BAMS, or BHMS government colleges currently in the state
- PG: MD/MS across multiple departments
- Super Speciality: DM/MCh in select disciplines
