Medical Colleges in Rajasthan 2026 β MBBS, RUHS & RajMES Guide
Rajasthan has one of India's largest state medical education networks, led by flagship institutions like SMS Medical College, Jaipur, Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner, Dr. SN Medical College, Jodhpur, and AIIMS Jodhpur. Most colleges are affiliated with the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS). You can explore the complete, filterable list of medical colleges in Rajasthan directly above.
RajMES β A Concept Unique to Rajasthan
Rajasthan has pioneered a distinctive category called RajMES (Rajasthan Medical Education Society) colleges β semi-government institutions such as Shri Kalyan Government Medical College (Sikar), Government Medical College (Bhilwara), and Jhalawar Medical College. These offer MBBS education at costs well below private colleges while maintaining academic standards close to pure-government institutions, giving students who narrowly miss pure government seats a strong, affordable alternative.
How MBBS Admission Works
MBBS admission is based on NEET UG rank, with centralized counselling conducted by the NEET UG Medical & Dental Admission/Counselling Board in coordination with RUHS β covering Government, RajMES, RUHS-affiliated, ESIC, and Private colleges in a single unified process:
- 85% Rajasthan State Quota β requires Rajasthan domicile, or continuous study in Rajasthan from Class 10 to 12
- 15% All India Quota (AIQ) β filled through MCC
- ESIC Medical Colleges β follow the same 15% AIQ / 85% state split
A Notable Management Quota Restriction
Management quota seats in government-linked colleges are available only at RUHS CMS Jaipur and RajMES colleges β pure government medical colleges like SMS Jaipur, SN Jodhpur, SP Bikaner, and JLN Ajmer do not offer any management quota seats at all.
Why Rajasthan Has Among India's Highest NEET Cutoffs
Rajasthan recorded roughly 1.19 lakh NEET-qualified candidates in a recent cycle β a 68% qualification rate, reportedly the highest in India β competing for a comparatively limited MBBS seat pool. This makes Rajasthan's state quota cutoffs (General category typically 615β630+ marks) among the most competitive in the country.
