Medical Colleges in Madhya Pradesh 2026 – MBBS, DME MP & MMVY Guide

Madhya Pradesh is one of India's largest contributors to government MBBS seats, with a strong network of government medical colleges — including Gandhi Medical College (Bhopal), Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College (Jabalpur), MGM Medical College (Indore), Gajra Raja Medical College (Gwalior), and the central institution AIIMS Bhopal — alongside a growing number of private medical colleges. You can explore the complete, filterable list of medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh directly above.

    How MBBS Admission Works

MBBS and BDS admission in Madhya Pradesh is based on NEET UG rank, with counselling conducted exclusively by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Madhya Pradesh via dme.mponline.gov.in:

    • Government colleges: 85% Madhya Pradesh State Quota and 15% All India Quota (AIQ) via MCC
    • Private colleges: 100% of seats are filled through DME's state-level counselling — there is no All India Quota in MP's private medical colleges
    • AIIMS Bhopal is a separate case — 100% of its seats are filled directly through MCC

MMVY — Madhya Pradesh's Unique Tuition Scholarship

A standout feature of MP's system is the Mukhyamantri Medhavi Vidyarthi Yojana (MMVY), which pays the full private college tuition fee (which can exceed ₹50 lakh) for eligible MP-domicile students who meet board marks (70%+ in MP Board, or 85%+ in CBSE/ICSE) and an annual family income limit. In exchange, beneficiaries are legally bound to serve in rural government health centres in MP for a set duration after MBBS — breaking this bond can attract a penalty equal to the entire fee paid by the government, plus an additional fine.

"Open State" in Name, "Closed State" in Practice

Madhya Pradesh is technically classified as an Open State — meaning non-domicile students can legally register on the DME MP portal for private college seats. In practice, however, 100% priority in Round 1 and Round 2 goes to MP-domicile candidates; non-domicile students are only allotted seats after all eligible domicile candidates have been placed, except for the 15% NRI Quota, which non-domicile candidates can compete for from Round 1 itself.

    Courses Available

    • UG: MBBS and BDS across government and private institutions
    • PG: MD/MS and MDS, offered at multiple government and private colleges through DME MP
    • Super Speciality: DM/MCh seats available primarily at AIIMS Bhopal and select government colleges
