Medical Colleges in Arunachal Pradesh 2026 – MBBS Admission Guide

Arunachal Pradesh has a single medical institution serving the entire state β€” Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Naharlagun β€” making it one of the smallest medical education setups among Indian states. Despite limited capacity, it plays a vital role in producing doctors for the northeastern region.

    About the College

TRIHMS is a government medical college affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University, offering MBBS with an annual intake of around 50 seats, supported by an attached hospital for clinical training. The institute also runs a small number of MD/MS postgraduate seats, split between state and All India Quota counselling.

    How Admission Works

MBBS admission is based entirely on NEET UG rank. 85% of seats fall under State Quota, reserved primarily for Arunachal Pradesh domicile candidates (APST and Non-APST categories), and conducted by the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education (DHTE), Arunachal Pradesh. The remaining 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats are filled through MCC counselling, open to candidates from any state. For postgraduate MD/MS admission, seats are similarly split between state-level and All India NEET PG counselling.

    Courses Available

Currently, Arunachal Pradesh's medical education is limited to:

    • UG: MBBS only (no BDS, BAMS, or BHMS colleges in the state)
    • PG: MD/MS (limited seats)

There are no MDS, DNB, or Super Speciality (DM/MCh) programs currently offered within the state.
