Medical Colleges in Mizoram 2026 – MBBS, Zoram Medical College Guide

Mizoram's medical education is served by a single institution — Zoram Medical College and Hospital (ZMC&H), Falkawn, near Aizawl. Established in 2018 as the state's first-ever medical college, it is affiliated with Mizoram University, approved by the NMC, and accredited with an "A" grade by NAAC. You can explore ZMC&H and any other listed institutions directly above.

An Unusual Seat Split — 70/15/15

Unlike the standard 85% State Quota / 15% AIQ pattern used by most Indian states, Zoram Medical College follows a distinctive 70/15/15 split across its 100 annual MBBS seats:

    • 70% Mizoram State Quota — reserved for Mizoram domicile candidates
    • 15% All India Quota (AIQ) — filled through MCC, open to candidates from any state
    • 15% NRI Quota — a notably higher and more explicit NRI allocation than most government medical colleges offer

    How Admission Works

MBBS admission is based on NEET UG rank. AIQ seats are allotted through MCC, while State Quota and NRI Quota seats are administered by the Technical Wing, Higher & Technical Education Department, Government of Mizoram. Final admission formalities, including document verification, are completed offline at the college campus in Falkawn — candidates must be physically present with parents or guardians.

    Recently Introduced Postgraduate Courses

Zoram Medical College began offering MD/MS postgraduate seats from 2025 onwards, in five clinical streams: Anaesthesiology, Paediatrics, General Surgery, General Medicine, and Obstetrics & Gynaecology — making it a very recent addition to Mizoram's medical education landscape.

    Courses Available

    • UG: MBBS only (no BDS, BAMS, or BHMS colleges currently in the state)
    • PG: MD/MS in five clinical specialities (introduced 2025)
    • Other: A 2-year Master of Public Health (MPH) program is also offered, separate from the NEET-based MBBS/PG admission process

There are currently no MDS, DNB, or Super Speciality (DM/MCh) programs offered within Mizoram.
