    About BDS

BDS is the premier undergraduate dental degree in India, designed to produce skilled dental surgeons capable of diagnosing and treating all forms of oral diseases. The course covers subjects including Oral Anatomy, Dental Materials, Oral Pathology, Conservative Dentistry, Periodontics, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, Prosthodontics, and Community Dentistry. The 5-year BDS program is structured into 4 years of academic study followed by a compulsory 1-year rotatory internship in dental hospitals. Students get hands-on clinical training from the 3rd year onwards, treating real patients under supervision in dental college hospitals equipped with modern dental chairs and equipment. Admission is through NEET UG. Government dental college fees are significantly lower (₹20,000–1,50,000/year) compared to private dental colleges (₹3–10 lakh/year). Top dental colleges include Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (Delhi), Government Dental College Mumbai, and King George's Medical University.
