Medical Colleges in Telangana 2026 – MBBS, KNRUHS & Admission Guide

Telangana has rapidly expanded its medical education network, anchored by government institutions like Osmania Medical College and Gandhi Medical College, Secunderabad, alongside a large number of private colleges. Notably, Telangana has no deemed medical university — only Central Government institutions (like AIIMS) and State Government colleges participate in MCC's All India Counselling here. You can explore the complete, filterable list of medical colleges in Telangana directly above.

How MBBS Admission Works — KNRUHS

MBBS admission is based on NEET UG rank, with state counselling conducted by Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal:

    • Government colleges: 85% Telangana State Quota via KNRUHS and 15% AIQ via MCC
    • Private colleges: 100% of seats filled through KNRUHS, split into Category A (Convener Quota), Category B (Management Quota), and Category C (NRI Quota)

KNRUHS runs two separate counselling streams: one for Category A (Convener), and a parallel process for Category B and C (Management/NRI). Category A requires local status (Telangana or Andhra Pradesh candidates under specific eligibility rules — a legacy of the joint state history), while Category B is nativity-blind and open to all Indian citizens purely on All India NEET rank.

A Rare Advantage — No Mandatory Rural Service Bond

Unlike many other states (Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, etc.), Telangana does not impose a compulsory rural service bond on MBBS graduates from government or private colleges admitted through KNRUHS counselling — a genuinely student-friendly feature that sets it apart.

    Fee Structure by Category

Government college fees are highly subsidized (~₹10,000–65,000/year). In private colleges, Category A (Convener) fees run around ₹60,000–1.2 lakh/year, Category B (Management) around ₹11–13 lakh/year, and Category C (NRI) fees can reach significantly higher, sometimes over ₹1 crore for the full course.

    Courses Available

    • UG: MBBS and BDS across government and private institutions
    • PG: MD/MS, offered at government, government-aided, and private colleges
    • Super Speciality: DM/MCh available at select government and private institutions
